II What is a sport, exercise or activity that you enjoy playing or watching.

the four Grand Slam events.  (Australian, French, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.)
Also, I practice playing table tennis about three times a week.
Racquet sports are my favorites, but I also love swimming. I wish that I could swim
every day. Especially, in the ocean. :) I love body surfing!"
III List four adverbs of frequency and make a complete sentence with each one.
빈도 부사 예 문장
1 always  (항상(恒常)) I always get up at 7a and get ready for school.
2 usually, often (자주) On Sundays, I usually relax and watch television.
3 sometimes (때때로) Sometimes, I study chess games with my friends.
4 never (결코 ┅하지 않다) It never snows in the summer in Korea.
You may list more adverbs for bonus points.
Please see my handout.
IV Complete the following sentence: "How often do you ____________________?"
Then, provide a complete answer to the question.
This item has two parts.
Please fill in the blank :   "How often do you ____________________?"
Please fill in the blank with anything you want …
Then provide a detailed answer for your question.
Example:
How often do you check your email?
"Personally, I think it's important for me to check my email every day.
I often get news, reports, assignments and questions."
So, I should check my email on a regular basis.
In addition, I always make it a point to reply to my email.
That is just common courtesy."
V Provide the present participle [현재(現在) 분사(分詞)] for fifteen verbs:
Please remember the three basic rules for making the present participle:
1) Just add -ing.
2) Drop the "e" and then add -ing.
3) Double the consonant. (자음(子音)) Then add -ing.
Infinitive - 부정사(不定詞) Present Participle
1 laugh laughing
2 have having
3 run running
VI Complete the sentence. Use the present continuous form of the verb in parentheses.
(현재시제 - 진행형)
The rule is as follows:
Use the verb, "to be" (present tense) + the present participle.
Here is an example:
What _____ you ___________ in school? (study)
Answer: What are you studying in school?
VII What are some activities that you do every day or almost every day?
Please refer to page 30 in your textbook for some examples.
Here is an example:
"Almost every day, I watch something on TV. It might be the news or just something fun.
Also, I try to write something significant every day. It might be just email, a report,
or a personal project. I should exercise every day, but sometimes, I just don't have time."
VIII What are some things that you never do?
Advice: Think of some things that you never do.
Example: "I never drive in Seoul. The traffic is always horrible, so I would rather take
public transportation. Driving in traffic makes me nervous and uncomfortable.
I never lie to my friends. I don't ever want to hurt their feelings. If I do, it is unintentional. "
I never go to bars. I just don't feel comfortable there.
I never take the subway. It's always crowded and I can never find a seat." :)
IX Please list at least three proverbs and provide example for each one.
"Two heads are better than one." (백지장도 맛들면 낫다.)
Two or more people working togther can solve problems quicker and better than
a person working alone.
"Don't bite off more than you can chew." 분수에 맞는 일을 하라.
Basically, this means that you should not take on more responsibility than you can
handle. It may be unwise to be overconfident.
"Money does not grow on trees.  돈은 쇱게 얻어지는 것이 아니다.
Money is generally not easy to obtain.
Everything has a cost, so you might want to be frugal with your money.
Make some financial goals and save for the things that you desire the most.
For example, saving for your own home might be your number one priority.
You will probably like to have a nice mode of transportation.
There are always costs for food, medical expenses, transportion, family, entertainment, etc.
X I will give you a list of ten terms for weather conditions.
Please see your handout for suggested definitions in English.

You may receive additonal points for original answers.

for each of the terms.
XI How would you describe your cell phone manners and habits? 예의(禮儀) / 습관(習慣)
You may refer to your textbook or get some ideas from our class discussion.
Here is an example:
"I always try to be polite when I use my phone. I realize that it may be rude to use your
phone in certain places. I always have my phone placed on "quiet mode" (vibrate) except
when I am at home. Actually, I don't have my phone on when I am with other people in
a social situation. I think that is a little bit rude."
In any case, describe your own personal phone manners and habits whether they are
good or bad.
What are your plans for summer vacation? 여름방학 계획(計劃)
XII Even though this was one of your homework assignments, it should be easy enough to
provide a concise answer for this question. I am really interested in your ideas and plans.
In fact, maybe you have some nice recommendations for me.
